MANKATO — Gray skies didn’t keep a deputy from getting a glimpse of a full moon while he was watching for speeders on Highway 22 Thursday night.
The Blue Earth County sheriff’s deputy was parked in what’s known as “the river dip” south of Mankato, where the highway makes a steep drop to the Le Sueur River before making quick climb up hill again. While running radar, he saw a car using the passing lane to pass a mini van, which had its side door open.
There also was “a person directly inside the door with his pants pulled down to just below his knees and bending over,” the deputy’s report said.
The 19-year-old mooner from Minnesota Lake was cited for disorderly conduct and the van’s 18-year-old driver from Good Thunder was cited for driving without due care. The driver of the car told the deputy he knew the man with the moon.
