ST. JAMES — A former Watonwan County sheriff and current county board candidate crashed a small plane Wednesday evening, his second aircraft accident in a week.
Joe Dahl, 51, was the pilot of a small plane that crashed into Long Lake south of St. James about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Watonwan County deputies said. Dahl was not injured in the accident.
Witnesses reported the plane was flying low over the water, when it dived sharply into the water and sunk to the bottom of the lake.
July 24, Dahl was piloting an ultra-light aircraft when it went down in Brown County beanfield.
