Drug search ends in burglary probe

MANKATO — Mankato police officers called to a report of possible narcotics left in the Civic Center parking ramp ended up investigating a burglary instead.

The green material found in plastic bags were vegetables from a freezer, which had been left behind by the burglar who had broke into a first-floor apartment between the ramp and the Holiday Inn hotel. The burglary was reported at 3:45 a.m. Friday.

A 42-inch Samsung flat screen television, a 32-inch RCA flat screen television, a Samsung home theater system, a laptop computer, a Phillips DVD player, a laptop computer and a Sony Playstation II were stolen. The estimated value of the items was about $4,000.
