LEWISVILLE — A fire burned through a downtown Lewisville cabinet store Saturday, destroying it and inflicting minor damage on a neighboring fire station and salon, Truman Fire Capt. Tim Zehnder said.
Two firefighters were taken to a hospital for evaluation with injuries that appeared to be minor.
Eleven fire departments responded to the fire, which started at about 3:50 p.m. at Denny Jahnz Cabinetry at 214 Lewis St. W. It’s not clear what started the fire in the store, which was empty at the time and is a total loss.
The state fire marshall has been called to investigate.
Owner Denny Jahnz declined to discuss the fire.
“For the most part we saved the two adjacent buildings,” Zehnder said, “which is good because one of them is the fire station.”
Zehnder spoke with both of the hospitalized firefighters and said they are doing fine. He wasn’t sure about the nature of their injuries.
He said the fire was brought under control by about 7:30 p.m.
