Man sentenced for assault
MANKATO — A 38-year-old Mankato man, who reached a plea agreement June 8 that reduced a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge to felony domestic assault, was sentenced to 21 months in prison Tuesday.
Thomas James Zuehlke was arrested in December, a short time after the assault was reported. The victim told investigators a weapon might have been used during the crime.
Three criminal sexual conduct charges and a second-degree assault charge were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for Zuehlke’s guilty plea for a domestic assault by strangulation charge. He was given credit for time served in jail and also will serve 10 months on supervised release after he gets out of prison, according to court records.
