Woman assaulted: man run over
Mankato Police arrest man for kidnapping, assault
A Le Sueur man is in jail after allegedly forcing his female roommate into a car, slapping her and hitting her with a windshield wiper, before she drove away, running over his leg.
Mankato police were called to the River Hills Mall parking lot at 9 a.m. Thursday after a witness saw a man hitting a woman. According to police this is what occurred:
Edgar Martinez, 24, arrived at the workplace of the woman in Elysian. She went outside to talk to him where an argument occurred and a witness there said Martinez slapped the woman and forced her into the car.
He drove to River Hills where a witness said he slapped her and then got out of the car and tore off a windshield wiper and used it to hit her and the car. She was able to get into the car, lock the doors and drive off, running over his leg.
Martinez was treated for foot and ankle injuries at the hospital and then jailed.
Police are asking for charges of assault, domestic assault, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Police say the two purchased the car together just a few days earlier.
