A 64-year-old Savage man was critically injured when the car he was driving was hit by a semi tractor pulling a Praxair gas tank trailer, the State Patrol said. Jeffrey L. Wagner was taken to Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital after the crash, which was reported at 9:25 a.m. Monday. The driver of the semi, 55-year-old Douglas D. Parker of Hastings, had no apparent injuries, the patrol said. Wagner was driving out of the Kiwanis Recreation Area and Dog Park lot when his 1998 Mercedes Benz E320 was hit on its driver’s side by the northbound semi. Wagner was crossing the northbound lanes of Highway 169 and was planning to turn south on the highway. The northbound lane of Highway 169, north of the Highway 14 intersection, was shut down for about an hour while troopers investigated.
