Teen arrested after frying pan assault

MANKATO — A 17-year-old boy was arrested by Mankato police officers Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old girl and keeping her from leaving a residence.

The incident was reported at 4:20 p.m. by the girl, who called 911 from her cell phone to report she was locked in a bathroom and someone was keeping her from leaving. Both teens were at a residence of an acquaintance they both knew, police said.

The girl was from Plymouth and didn’t know the address of the apartment building she was in. She was able to give police enough description of the area that they were able to locate her in the 100 block of Huntington Drive. She told officers the suspect had hit her with a frying pan before she retreated to the bathroom.
