Waldron press conference moved to Anoka County
A news conference to summarize the evidence from a fatal confrontation in Kasota, involving a man in swim trunks and an undercover Le Sueur County sheriff¹s deputy, has been moved to Anoka to avoid disruptions.
Andrew Johnson, assistant Anoka County attorney, said the news conference was moved to Anoka at the request of Le Sueur County Sheriff David Gliszinski. Friends and family of 24-year-old Tyler Heilman have been doing
Sunday pickets at the Le Sueur County Sheriff¹s Department in Le Center since the July 20 shooting.
Officials want to avoid having a disruption during the news conference Tuesday morning, so it will take place inside the Anoka County Sheriff's Department.
Johnson and another assistant Anoka County attorney led a grand jury inquiry into whether Todd Waldron, the deputy who shot Heilman after a physical confrontation, should face charges. After two days of testimony from more than 20 witnesses, the grand jury decided Nov. 6 that Waldron should not be indicted.
Evidence from the case will be summarized and media questions will be answered during the news conference. Johnson said he is arranging a meeting with Heilman's family immediately after that.
