MANKATO — An Elysian man has been arrested after police say he rear-ended a car at a stop sign in Mankato and fled the scene Friday night while intoxicated.
According to police, Nicholas Richard Priebe, 25, hit a car stopped on North Second Street at Spring Street at 9:25 p.m. He then backed up and accelerated around the first vehicle, sideswiping it. The suspect then hit a parked vehicle, causing it to be pushed onto the sidewalk.
A witness followed the suspect vehicle after it sped onto North Riverfront Drive. The suspect vehicle hit numerous median dividers and crossed over to the wrong side of the street, police said. The driver stopped under the Highway 14 bridge and was arrested after a brief chase on foot.
He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries and is now being held in the Blue Earth County jail.
The charges requested are: second-degree assault, fourth degree driving while intoxicated, hit and run motor vehicle accident and reckless driving.
