Accident victim in critical condition

An 18-year-old Winnebago woman was in critical condition Friday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, where she was being treated for injuries she received in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 22 Wednesday.

Cortney Langford had been airlifted to Rochester from the scene of the crash just north of Beauford. Her father, 42-year-old David Langford, was driving when their 1998 Mazda B400 collided with a 2005 Chevy Silverado, driven by 41-year-old James Schmidt of Mapleton, at about 10:15 a.m.

David Langford is in fair condition at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. Schmidt and a passenger in his vehicle were not seriously injured.

Cortney’s mother, Laurie Langford, was with her in Rochester Christmas day, a hospital spokeswoman said.

“We really appreciate the love and prayers from the community, and please keep the prayers coming,” Laurie Langford said in a written statement.
