Fire destroys house in Essig
ESSIG — No one was injured in a house fire early this morning in Essig.
New Ulm and Sleepy Eye firefighters responded to a call to John Thomas Schoof’s home about 12:15 a.m. and remained on the scene about four hours.
Schoof, 72, the single occupant, was displaced from the residence.
The fire is believed to have started in the living room on the main floor of the residence, according to the Brown County Sheriff Department. A damage estimate was not available this morning.
