Burglary prompts police warning

Laptop stolen after thief slips through unlocked window

MANKATO — Another burglary involving an unlocked window is prompting another warning from police for residents to keep doors and windows locked at night and when they are away.

The burglary at an apartment in the 200 block of Balcerzak Drive was reported at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday. Investigating officers reported at least one person apparently forced open an unlocked window and cut a screen to get into the apartment.

A $1,300 Samsung laptop computer was the only thing reported missing. However, other items in the apartment looked like they had been staged by the burglar or burglars so they could be removed quickly. Police suspect the burglar or burglars were interrupted and escaped through the window before being seen.
