A 13-year-old Winthrop boy died from injuries when his bike was struck by a semi truck on Highway 15 Saturday afternoon, the Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed.
Jacob W. Weber was one of several juveniles riding bikes north on the concrete two-lane highway when he crossed in front of a 2007 Mack tractor-trailer and they collided, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The Sibley County Sheriff’s office, Winthrop fire department, Winthrop ambulance and Life Link air ambulance also responded.
Weber was transported with critical injuries to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis on Saturday.
The driver of the truck — Andrew C. Damhof, 23, of Blomkest — was not injured.
