Maurice J. Hecht, age 93 of Waseca died on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.
Born on November 7, 1918 in Waseca County, Minnesota he was the son of Roy and Esther (Kanne) Hecht. He attended school in rural Waseca County and graduated from Morristown High School. Maurice served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He married Norma Draheim on December 22, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. He farmed his entire life in Blooming Grove Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Maurice was a member of Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, Masonic Tuscan Lodge #77, Waseca County Horse Thief Detective Society, the American Legion and VFW, and the Eastern Star Hope Chapter #34 where he was recently recognized as a 50 year member.
He is survived by three sons, Earl (Linda) Hecht of Waseca, Arthur Hecht of Waseca, and Chris (Kate) Hecht of Boise, ID; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Verda Schweim of Chaska and Ardella Draheim of Waseca. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-Loren and Ronald, and one sister-Vida Ahlman.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the church. Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals of Waseca is handling arrangements.
