Karl Zwirn

—   Karl Zwirn, 89, of Le Center, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis.

  Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Funeral Service will also be Friday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

  Karl was born on February 7, 1923 in St. Paul to William and Mary (Eichler) Zwirn. In 1931 the family moved to a farm west of Rosemount now known as Apple Valley. He attended country school.

  Karl worked at Rosemount government defense plant for four years. In 1946 he enlisted in the army serving a tour of duty in Korea and was discharged with a rank of Sergeant Tech. 4. Continued farming until 1955 when he started working for Worthland Ski Co. in St. Paul. In 1968 he moved to Le Center with Larson Industries Co. working for them for six years. In 1974 he was employed as a custodian at Le Center Schools until his retirement in 1984.

  He Enjoyed fishing, traveling and wood working.

  Karl is survived by sister-in-law Sharon Zwirn, niece Kathy (and Dave) O'Malley, niece and nephew Jacki and Brad, other nieces, nephews and friends.

  He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Katherine, five brothers and three sisters.

  Military honors provided by the Le Center area Honor Guard.
