Chad R. Oudekerk, age 43, of Mankato and formerly of Forest City, IA, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 as the result of injuries sustained in an accident.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Patrick Patterson, officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Chad was born June 19, 1968 to Ralph and Myrna (Holcomb) Oudekerk in Forest City, IA. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1986. He continued his education at Buena Vista College and went on to receive his Masters Degree at Mankato State University, receiving Beta Gamma Sigma recognition. Chad was united in marriage to Mary Halvorsen on June 24, 1989. They have two children, Samuel 17 and Hannah 15.
Chad was an instructor in small business management at South Central College and worked with several area chamber of commerce projects. He did freelance web design and development and formerly worked at Midwest Wireless, Department of Economic Security, and KEEZ. He was involved with his church, chaperoning mission trips and other activities.
Chad loved his wife, his children, family, friends, and his two cats. He restored his beloved 71 Chevelle SS 454 and tinkered with all things mechanical. He had a gift for building websites, cars, houses, etc. and was always working on home improvement projects - big and small. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, loud Rock n Roll music, a good laugh, and he enjoyed life. We will miss him and everything he did for all whom knew him.
Chad is survived by his wife, Mary; two children, Samuel and Hannah; mother, Myrna Oudekerk of Forest City, IA; two brothers, Terry (Loretta) Oudekerk of Crystal Lake, IA and Steven (Joyce Henning) Oudekerk of Forest City, IA; sister, Cindy Hagen of Britt, IA; father-in-law, Harry Halvorsen of Forest City, IA; two brothers-in-law, Allen (Kim) Halvorsen of La Crosse, WI, Tim (Linda) Halvorsen of Forest City, IA; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Ramy of Mankato, Lois (Randy) Bush of Forest City, IA; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; niece, Jasmine Oudekerk; sister-in-law, Kim Oudekerk; mother-in-law, Ardith Halvorsen; brother-in-law, David Ramy.
