Leo A. Zellmer

—   Leo A. Zellmer, age 84 of Waterville, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Central Health Care in LeCenter, Minnesota.

  Born on May 8, 1928, in LeSueur County, Minnesota he was the son of Hugo and Ella (Kelm) Zellmer.  He attended St. Peter's Lutheran parochial school and Waterville High School.  He served in the U.S. Army in Korea as an MP from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.  He married Eloise Pierson June 21, 1958 at First Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota.  He farmed his entire life in LeSueur County and loved all of nature.  He enjoyed working the land and making maple syrup.

  Through his journey with cancer he found peace viewing nature's gifts from his living room window.  He took special interest in the lives of his grandchildren.  He was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and through the years held various offices.  He also served on Shipping Association and Pork Producer boards.

  Leo is survived by his wife Eloise of Waterville; three children, Tammi (Duane) Dahlman of Cokato, Randy (Kay) Zellmer of Blooming Prairie, and Trudi (Kevin) Schaefer of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Emily, Eric, Marcus, Matthew, Lucas, Ryan, and Tyler; one brother, Gordon (Dorothy) Zellmer of Waterville; sister-in-law, Gladys Zellmer of Faribault;  three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Harold.

  Visitation will be held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 4-8 PM and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

  Funeral service will be on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Bell Lutheran Church in LeSueur County with Rev. Russell Grabau officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.           dennisfuneralhomes.com
