Elaine Jeanette (Dorn) Mettler

—  Elaine Jeanette (Dorn) Mettler, age 86, of North Mankato, MN, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Fr. Peter Nosbush, officiating.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Outdoor Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato and will continue at the church 1 hour prior to the service.

  Elaine was born January 17, 1927, in Nicollet, MN, to Joseph and Rose (Zins) Dorn.  She attended Nicollet Public Schools.  She married the love of her life, Leonard G. Mettler on June 6, 1950, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet.  Elaine loved spending as much time as she could with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and making "Elaine's Famous Potato Salad".  She loved going to garage sales and dancing on Bandwagon with her husband.  She did put her cooking talents to work at both South Central Vo-Tech and Jeff's Superette through the years.  She also worked at Carlson Craft.  Her other love was her religion.  A very strong catholic woman, she enjoyed going to church and having her family there with her.  A longtime member of Holy Rosary CCW, her delicious baked goods were always there for events.

  Elaine is survived by her husband, Leonard of North Mankato; 5 sons, Wayne (Linda) of Lake Crystal, Dean (Julie) of Mankato, Kim of North Mankato, Todd

(Barb) of North Mankato, Van (Lori) of Mankato; 5 daughters, Fay (Jeff) Butson of Vernon Center, Dawn Baumberger of Mankato, Gwen (Tim) Ruch of Mankato, Lyn (Larry) Storlie of North Mankato, Lola (Mark) McDermott of Owatonna; 27 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and counting; 1 brother, Harvey (Millie) Dorn of Nicollet.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Anthony; great grandchild, Jackson; sister, Rosemarie (Dorn) Northammer; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Darlene (Prom) Dorn.

  Elaine's family gratefully acknowledges all acts of kindness and sympathy expressed during their bereavement.  No individual acknowledgments will be sent.
