Elsie C. Santo, 99, of Janesville, died on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Mankato House Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Elsie Clara was born on May 16, 1910, in Alton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota to Otto and Ida (Guse) Gahler. She was baptized on July 3, 1910, and confirmed April 5, 1925, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Elsie was united in marriage to Albert W. Santo at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 25, 1930. Elsie and Albert lived their entire married life in Janesville. In the early 50’s Elsie worked for the Morrill’s at the Janesville Dairy Queen. In their retirement years Elsie and Albert wintered in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Elsie loved flower gardening, fishing, and playing cards. For many years she enjoyed going to auctions around the area.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Albert on December 13, 1981; by her brothers Herman and Theodore, and her sisters Bertha Mitchell, Martha Jahnke, Augusta Kurzbein, and an infant sister at birth.
