Elaine J. Ambroson

—   Elaine June Ambroson, age 88 of Mankato, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System- Mankato.

  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Interment will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.  Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

  Elaine was born Elaine June Knudson on a North Dakota farm on May 18, 1924.  She attended rural schools and graduated from Clifford High School in May, 1941.  She attended Mayville State Teachers College in Mayville, ND for one year and then taught for two years in a rural school.

  Elaine married Oliver Ambroson on May 18, 1943 in Clifford, ND.  They spent their early years on a farm and then moved to Hatton, ND where Elaine worked as a bookkeeper at the local hardware store.  She was active in church activities and ladies social clubs. She and Oliver moved to Fargo in 1958 and Elaine worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield.

  Ten years later they made their final move to North Mankato.  Elaine was a bookkeeper at Stevens Shoes for 13 years. After she retired she had time to enjoy her hobbies of golfing, gardening and playing cards.  She spent the last 3 years as part of the Pathstone Community in Mankato.

  Elaine was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato and Sons of Norway.  Elaine excelled at making the Norwegian delicacy rosettes.

  Elaine is survived by daughter; Elizabeth Tibbetts and her husband, Matthew of Minneapolis; and son, Jay Ambroson of Oyster Bay, NY.  She is also survived by four sisters, Delores Calabray, Beverly Love, Ione Iverson, Rose Beck; and three brothers, Joe, Jim, and Hank Knudson.

  Elaine was preceded in death by Oliver, her husband of 55 years.
