Beverly M. Miller

—   Beverly M. Miller, age 82, of Mankato and formerly of Sioux City, IA died on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church, Mankato, with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Memorials may be given to the Summit Center or VINE.

  Beverly was born on May 19, 1930 in Mitchell, S.D. to Edward Louis and Ethel Laverne (Carlson) Bauer Jr.  She graduated from high school in 1948 in Mitchell, S.D. and from Park College in Parkville, MO in 1952.  On August 31, 1952, Bev was united in marriage to James M. Miller Jr. in Mitchell, S.D.  Bev worked for State Farm Insurance, American Family Insurance, and Woodbury Extension Service, all in Sioux City.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Sioux City and the Monday Night Book Club.  Bev enjoyed playing bridge.  She was a 60 year member of the PEO, Chapter BK in Mitchell, S.D., Chapter JG in Sioux City, IA, and Chapter BE in Mankato.

  Bev is survived by her children, Artemis "Julie" Sohrt of Broomfield, CO, Sharon (Scott) Steele of Puerto Rico, and Phillip (Shirley) Miller of Mankato; five grandchildren, Corrine (Justin) Reifenrath, Ashley (Clayton) Ross, Riley Steele, Alex Miller, and Jared Miller; four great-grandchildren, River, Kaitlin, Raegan, and Ava Beverly; sister, Mary Jane (Elliott) Nelson of Pierre, S.D.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine Bauer, Jerry (Doris) Miller; Donna Dacy; Janet (John) Middleton; Mary Kay Miller; and Mark (Debbie) Miller; and nieces and nephews and extended family.

  Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim in 1975; and brother, Robert.
