Duane "Butch" L. Briest

—  Duane "Butch" L. Briest, age 58, of Gaylord passed away Monday, February 4, 2013, at his home in Gaylord. Funeral Service will be Friday, February 8, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sibley

Township, Sibley County, Minnesota,with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February  7, 2013, from 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. And Friday, February 8, 2013, from 7:30 A.M.-8:30 A.M. at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

   Duane "Butch" Leroy Briest was born on October 15, 1954, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of LeRoy and Verna (Miller) Briest. Butch was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley Township. He was a 1972 graduate of the Gaylord High School. In high school, he was a member of the FFA.

   On September 1, 1990, Butch was united in marriage to Rachel Bremer. This union was blessed with one daughter, Soonja. They later divorced. Butch was a self-employed masonry.

    Butch was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley Township. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever and a past member of the Gaylord Jaycees.

  Butch enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, vacations, bowling and playing pool. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

   Butch passed away at his home in Gaylord on Monday, February, 4, 2013, at the age of 58 years. Blessed be his memory.

   Butch is survived by his:

Daughters, Soonja Briest and special friend, Mike Everson of Gaylord, MN, and Jessica Fokken and special friend, Brian;  Siblings,    Denise Nelson and her husband, Cliff of Stockholm, SD, Jerry Briest and his wife, Kim of Hutchinson, MN, and Diane Okwulehie and her husband, Simeon of Brooklyn Center, MN; Sister-In-Law, Angie Briest of Gaylord, MN; Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

   Butch was preceded in death by his Parents, LeRoy and Verna Briest; Brother, Gene Briest; Grandparents, Ernest and Elizabeth Briest and Earl and Cecelia Miller.
