Timothy Vincent Burns

—   Timothy V. Burns 65, of Bonita Springs, FL, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at his residence. A former resident of Minneapolis, MN, he had been a resident of Bonita Springs for the past 15 years. He was born October 13, 1947 in Mankato, MN, the son of the late Vincent L. Burns and Margaret M. (ne LeGros) Burns.

  He was a graduate of Mankato High School and then attended Mankato State University. His college was interrupted due to the Vietnam War when Tim joined the U.S. Navy. He proudly served aboard the USS Oriskany. After the war, he returned to Mankato State University and received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  

  After college, Tim worked for 3M Corp. as a Regional Sales Representative and then as a Vocational Counselor. After moving to Bonita Springs, he worked for DuFrane Jewelers as a Sales Consultant. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus and the VFW in Mankato, MN.

  He is survived by his mother, Margaret M. Burns of Bonita Springs; two sisters, Barbara Burns DuFrane (fianc, Dr. William Doebler) of Bonita Springs and Catherine "Kitsy" Burns (Bryant) Thomas of Burnsville, MN; nephew, Michael J. Vincent (Caroline) Thomas; and niece, Madeline Catherine Thomas. Also surviving are Robert Spencer (Jodi) DuFrane and their children, Case and Claire and Dana DuFrane (Steven) Selna and their children, Catherine, Camille and Patrick; and dear friend, Dr. Beth Hagen.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent L. Burns in 1987, many beloved relatives and friends of the Vietnam War.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 28290 Beaumont Rd. Bonita Springs, FL. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass.

  Graveside services and burial will be held at St. Adrian Catholic Cemetery in Adrian, MN. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tim's name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675 or online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
