Verle E. Solberg

—   Verle E. Solberg of Duluth Minnesota went to be with his Lord on June 23rd, 2012 at Heritage Haven Asst. Living. Verle is the son of Carl and Ellen (Alvar) Solberg, born March 27, 1929. He grew up in Duluth, attended East Junior High and Central Schools. He completed High School at the School of Agriculture in Grand Rapids, MN, graduating in 1948. He joined the National Guard and served 8 years, then was drafted into the army, serving 2 years.

  Most of his adult years were spent in Mankato, MN, working on road construction projects in Southern MN and Iowa. Verle was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Marian (Mettler) Solberg on February 25, 2007.

  He is survived by his brother Dwight (Betty) Solberg of Silver Bay MN, Nancy (Ed) McGrew of Duluth, and Naomi (Lowell) Weberg of Duluth. Also, his son Jeffery of Kenyon MN, grandson Jeffery Verle  (Charenne) Solberg of CA, great grandson Clayton Solberg of CA, and step daughter Debbie Keller of CA. Step children Stephen (Rhonda) Larsen of Kasota MN, Peg (Jack) Witty of North Mankato, and many loved grandchildren and numerous members of the Mettler family.

  Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 10 am at Grace Baptist Church, funeral to follow at 11am. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park following.

  Memorials may be given to the Grace Baptist Church of Mankato 600 Lind St. Mankato, MN 56001 or the Vine, Faith in Action, 1618 Third Ave. Mankato, MN 56001.
