Donald E. Morrill, age 92, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. today, Friday, May 11, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Don was born December 11, 1919 to Fred and Nettie (Owens) Morrill in Janesville, MN. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. Don married Erma Hohenstein March 14, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waseca, MN. He was a mechanic throughout his career, working at Michels Motors before purchasing S&M Texaco.
Don enjoyed traveling, looking for agates, collecting stamps, coins and working on cars. He also loved to do crossword puzzles, word find puzzles, watching the Twins and Vikings on T.V. Don was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the North Mankato American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Erma; daughters, Cynthia (Michael) Veith of Mankato and Nadean Skorczewski of Ivanhoe, MN; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Lela (Morrill) Dering of Moreno Valley, CA; many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
