Charlotte Martha (Rump) Bernstein, age 95, formerly of Mankato, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Birchview Gardens Assisted Living Center in Hackensack, MN.
Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Woodland Hills Chapel with the Reverend Paul D. Nolting officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel. Internment will take place at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Charlotte was born August 9, 1916 in Dexel/Landsberg, Germany. She married Karl Bernstein in Berlin, Germany. In 1953 Charlotte, Karl, and their son, Wayne, came to the United States and settled in Mankato. She worked as a seamstress and Interior Decorator while in Berlin. Charlotte lived at Primrose in Mankato before moving to Birchview Gardens Assisted Living in Hackensack. In her free time Charlotte enjoyed bird watching, hiking, vacationing in Isla Mirada, Florida and Deer Trail Resort in Longville, Minnesota, reading, and in her younger years crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (HollyLee K.) Bernstein of Hackensack; step grandchildren, Bobby Gean Franke of Cotton, MN and Sherri Johnson of Beloit, WI ; great grandchildren, Nicholas & Cody Franke and Catrina, Courtney, Cyle, Carissa, and Chantel Johnson; first cousin, Helga Becker of Mankato and her two children, Billy Becker and Carla Pihl, and David Borchert; and daschund, Mindy Lee, whom she adored playing with.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and aunt, Hattie.
