Deloris ‘Dee’ Gudahl


BLUE EARTH — Deloris "Dee" Gudahl, age 81, of Blue Earth, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at United Hospital, Blue Earth.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Wesley Hafner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church.

Dee was born May 9, 1928, in Blue Earth, the daughter of Martin and Erma (Weise) Weise.

Dee was a 1946 graduate of Bethany Lutheran High School in Mankato. She was married to Elwood R. “Hoot” Gudahl on August 6, 1947 at Emerald Township, MN. The couple lived in Blue Earth where Dee managed the catalog department of the J.C. Penney Store for 20 plus years, retiring when the store closed. She quickly began working at Gudahl’s Decorating and permanently retired in 2004. Dee was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was very active all aspects of the church, especially the ladies aide and church choir. She was also active in the community choir, American Legion Auxiliary and with several bowling leagues through the years. She also enjoyed sewing and especially spending time with her darling grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dee is survived by her daughter, Susan (David) Buegler of Avon, Ohio, her son, Bruce (Gail) Gudahl of Blue Earth, her daughter, Karen (DeWayne “Nick") Nickels of N. Mankato, her brother, Wayne Weise of Blue Earth, her brother, Daniel (Marilyn) Weise of Blue Earth, her sister, Lois Schaetzel of Lomira, WI, her sister, JoAnn Cleberg of Ellijay, Georgia, her sister-in-law, Connie Fratzke of Hutchinson, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, “Hoot” in 1984 and two brothers, Ronald and Merlin Weise.
