Mary L. Zimmerman

—   Mary L. Zimmerman, age 78 of Janesville, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

  Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 26th at 3:00 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's-Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Iosco Township, Waseca County.

  The Zimmerman family will greet friends on Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of services at the funeral home.

  Mary Lee was born on September 9, 1934 to Lester and Esther (Westphal) Hasselfeldt in Mankato, Minnesota. She graduated from Mankato West High School in 1952. On October 11, 1952 she was united in marriage to Herbert L. Zimmerman at the Church of Christ in Eagle Lake, Minnesota. Over the years Mary did housekeeping for Waseca County Nursing Services, Redwood Motel of Mankato, Minnesota Elevator Inc. of Mankato, and for many families in the Janesville area. Mary and Herbert moved their family to Janesville in 1977. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Eagle Lake, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Dorcas Society. Mary enjoyed watching birds and going for afternoon rides with her family. She treasured time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  She is survived by her son, Scott Zimmerman of Sauk Centre; by her daughters, Patti (Darrell) Kopischke, Nancy (Lowell) Flitter and Kari (Dave) Melchert all of Janesville; by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; by her brother's-in-law, Gary (Char) Zimmerman and Roger (Pat) Zimmerman both of Mankato, and Tom (Judy) Zimmerman of South Haven, MS; by her sister-in-law, Grace Hasselfeldt of Pebble Beach, CA; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Herbert; by her oldest son, Greg; by her grandson, Cody Flitter; and her brother, Duke Hasselfeldt.
