  Michael "Mike" Fidel Villasenor, age 62, died of natural causes on Friday, June 15, 2012 at his home in Waseca.

  Born on June 17, 1949 in Oxnard, California, Mike was the son of Fidel and Mary (Cerne) Villasenor.  He attended Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles, California before serving his country as a member of the United States Marine Reserves.

  Mike was a valued friend and mentor to many, as he was a world renowned judge and trainer of Arabian horses.  Between 1971 and 1997 he owned and operated multiple Arabian stables and managed many international auctions.  His most recent position was as General Manager at Arabian Horse Times Magazine, the largest monthly Arabian horse publication in the world.  He served on many committees within the Arabian Horse Association and judged at the international level in North America, South America, Africa, and Australia.  Mike was very proud that he had attended every US Nationals competition since the organizations inception in 1955.  He was also an avid golfer and connoisseur of fine wines and cigars.

  Mike is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Romeo and her fiance Jeremiah Moore of El Cajon, CA; one granddaughter, Sofia Romeo; his mother, Mary Villasenor of Escondido, CA; and four siblings, Christina Wagner and Mary Lou Villasenor both of Escondido, CA, Denny Villasenor and his wife Nancy of Los Angeles, CA, and Virginia Scharbarth and her husband Ryan of Carlsbad, CA.  He was preceded in death by his father, Fidel; and one niece, Katherine Scharbarth.

  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Misheks Arabian Ranch in Waseca.  The time of the gathering will be announced at a later date.  Also, a private family interment service will be held in Escondido, CA, at a later date.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is assisting the family with their arrangements.
