Patrick Lee Freeberg, age 20, Virginia Beach, VA and formerly of Madison Lake, died on February 19, 2010 in Virginia Beach, VA.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will follow at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mankato East High School Cross Country and Choral Dept.

Patrick was born June 20, 1989 to James and Carol (Wigern) Freeberg in Mankato. He was baptized at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake and was confirmed at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Patrick attended Eagle Lake Elementary School and graduated from Mankato East High School in 2007. Patrick was active in cross country, track, choir, student council, and SADD. During high school he worked at McDonalds and Hilltop BW3. He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 17, 2007. Patrick was stationed in Virginia Beach, VA working as an aircraft structural mechanic. He enjoyed singing, running, music, boating, swimming, and ice fishing.

Patrick is survived by his mother, Carol (John) Howard of Madison Lake and father, James (Karla) Freeberg of Mankato; four siblings, John (Christy) Freeberg of Mankato, Jennifer (Jared) Burmesch of Port Washington, WI, Allison Howard and Austin Howard of Madison Lake; paternal grandmother, Gen Freeberg of Mankato; maternal grandparents, Manville and Jeanette Wigern of Walters; also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Arvid Freeberg and an uncle, Gary Wigern.
