Robert Harold Otterbein

  Robert Harold Otterbein, 77, of Mankato, Minnesota, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Oak Lawn Health Care Center. He was born May 9, 1935, to Wilbur and Ruth Otterbein in Northern Iowa. His family located in Waltham, Minnesota. Robert married Marcella Boysen in North Wood, Iowa, in 1958. He worked for Armstrong trucking and then for Hormel Foods for more than thirty years until his retirement. He also farmed with the Thoen Brothers for many years. Following his retirement he worked for Double K in Austin. During his adult life Robert and his family lived in Minnesota, California, and Nebraska. He enjoyed gardening, collecting toy tractors, making wood projects and spending time with his family and friends.

  Robert was preceded in death by his wife Marcella, parents, a brother Ronald, sister Sharon and granddaughter Sara. He is survived by son Todd Otterbein, daughter Lorrie (Mark) Sands, sister-in-law Sharon (Dan) Luben, brothers: Larry, Loren Norbert, Norman and Wayne. Sister Gail, special nephew Ben Luben and grandson Cory Sands.

  Funeral services for Robert Otterbein will be held at Crane Chapel in Austin on Thursday, December 13, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12 from 4:00 until 7:00p.m. at the Mayer Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
