James W. Reardon, 51 year old resident of rural Pierz, MN died on Saturday, August 4, 2012 of cardiac arrest while scuba diving at Lake Seven near Vergas, MN with a member of the North Dakota Fire Academy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN with Fr. Ken Popp and Fr. Ken Brenny officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Friday there will be a Christian Mother's rosary at 4:30 PM, Knights of Columbus Office for the Dead at 6 PM followed by parish prayers at 7 PM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman. Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN.
Jim was born April 28, 1961 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Daniel Sr. and Louise (Gregory) Reardon. He grew up in Medina, North Dakota. Jim was active in school, participating in cross-country, basketball and track, graduating in 1979. He then attended North Dakota State School of Science for Business Administration earning a AA degree and then attending Moorhead State University for Manufacturing Engineering, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Jim was united in marriage to Michelle Malinowski at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN on October 10, 1992.
After their marriage, the couple lived in St. Cloud and moved to St. Stephen in 1994, and then moved to Pierz in 2001. To this union four children were born, Cole, Paige, Taylor and Claire. He was employed as a Manufacturing Engineer at Frigidaire, Creative Memories, and Talon Innovations in the St. Cloud area and was currently employed as the Facilities Manager at Nortech Systems, Inc. in Milaca, MN. Jim was very active with his family and community. He was a member of the Fire Academy of North Dakota Team.
Jim loved to attend all of his children's sporting events and activities. You would see him with at least one camera in his hands at all times. He also adored his family and spent time with them on vacations, camping, hiking, fishing, playing together and coaching the kids' sports teams. He loved spending time outdoors and watching sunsets.
Jim was a great friend to many and it was important for him to stay in touch often. He was always willing to help anyone who needed something and had a great sense of humor. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle, son; Cole and daughters; Paige, Taylor and Claire; two brothers; Daniel Jr. of Medina, ND and Eugene of Carrington, ND and sister, June Ganser of Billings, MT, mother and father-in-law, Mary and Joe Malinowski of Pierz, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Daniel Sr. and Louise Reardon.
