Norman Elroy Thompson, age 84, of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal with Pastor Nancy Dreier officiating. A visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2012, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at church. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic Health System, Hospice. Lake Crystal Mortuary is assisting with arrangements
Norman was born May 4, 1928, to Ralph and Alma (Pearson) Thompson in Everdale, MN. Norman was a graduate of Herman High School, and Dunwoody Institute. Norman served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Gail Stockdill on October 28, 1950. Norman was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal Lions, and Lake Crystal American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, horseshoes, reading, cards, puzzles, and bowling.
Norman is survived by his son, Michael (Patty) of Lake Crystal; grandson, Damon (Julie) of Waconia; three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Landon, and Kiera; and one great-grandchild on the way; three sisters-in-law, Beth Thompson of St. Cloud, Joyce Stockdill of Colorado and Kim Stockdill of Arizona; one aunt, Esther Larson of Devils Lake; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Gail in 2008; his parents; one brother, Earl; brothers-in-law, Norton, Ron, John and Jim Stockdill; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Linda Stockdill.
