   Paula Plocher, 88, Mankato, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home, surrounded by family.

 Paula was born March 21, 1924, to Fred and Louisa (Schumacher) Hill in Waconia.  She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class.  On February 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Edward "Pat" Plocher in Waconia.  Paula worked as a bookkeeper at Mankato Lutheran Home, North Star Concrete and City Club Beverage.  In her free time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, cards and knitting.  She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for 62 years where she taught Sunday School, and she served as Treasurer for Hot Meals on Wheels for many years.  Throughout her life, Paula was distinguished by her strong work ethic, stewardship of the earth and perfect grammar.

 Paula is survived by daughter, Marsha (Bob) Qualset of Mankato; sons, David (Michelle) Plocher of Stillwater and Steve (Colleen Halley) Plocher of Woodbury; grandchildren, Jessie, David and Joseph; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hill, Marion Olson and Mary Sue Plocher; brothers-in-law, Wilfred Plocher, Roger Olson and Fred Plocher.

 Paula is preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Harold Hill, Rev. K.K. "Bing" Hill and Roland Hill; sister, Corky Kirsch; sisters-in-law, Edna Hill, Dorothy (Roland) Hill, Inez Plocher, Jeanne Firestone; and brothers-in-law, Al Firestone and Ben Kirsch.

 A private family service will be held.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The REACH (Mankato drop-in center for homeless and at-risk youth) or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
