Gladys Marie Birr

  Gladys Marie Birr, age 94, of Good Thunder, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the Mapleton Community Home.

 Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Mauer Jr. officiating.  Interment will be in Lyra Cemetery in Good Thunder.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Memorials may be given to the donors choice.  Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.

 Gladys was born on June 14, 1918, in Rapidan Township.  She was the daughter of Hans and Selma (Nelson) Ericksen.  Gladys was united in marriage to Edwin Birr on June 17, 1943, in Rapidan.  She and Edwin farmed and lived in Good Thunder all their life.  Gladys was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, where she participated in the Ladies Aid.  She enjoyed helping Edwin with their farm, gardening, flowers, dancing, and playing cards.

 Gladys is survived by several nieces, nephews, and special friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin in 1985; two half brothers, Henry and Clarence; and a half sister, Anne.
