Paul Mueller

—  Paul Mueller, age 88, of North Mankato died on Monday,September 3, 2012 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato, with the Pastor Paul A. Lauer officiating.  Visitation will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1 hour before the service.  Interment will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Mankato.

  Paul was born on July 23, 1924 to Gottlieb and Esther (Daluge) Mueller, in North Star Township , Brown County, Minnesota.  He graduated from Springfield High School in 1942.  Paul married Marion M. Schewe on May 23, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church, in Springfield, MN.   They moved to Mankato in 1953, residing there until his death.

  Paul was employed as a custodial engineer throughout his life, including with The Mankato Public School District, at KEYC TV, and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Mankato.  He enjoyed photography and was known for his local photographs featuring the cities of Mankato and North Mankato.  Some of his photography is included in "The History of North Mankato", a culmination of a joint endeavor of the North Mankato City Council and The Urban and Regional Studies Institute of Mankato State University in the updated volume of 1998, for North Mankato's Centennial celebration.  Some of his photography was used to create the Centennial Quilt for the city of North Mankato.  His photography can be viewed as well, at The Nicollet County Historical Museum, to which Paul donated some of his collection.  Paul was active in his church as an 8th grade Sunday School teacher for many years and as a Church Council member.

  Paul is survived by Marion Mueller, his wife of 64 years; 1 sister, Cordelia (Clifford) Kuehne of North Mankato, 1 sister-in-law, Lois Hobbs of Mendota Heights, MN., and 1 brother-in-law, Robert Schewe of San Diego, CA., as well as by his 5 children:  2 daughters, Barb (Bill) Hilburn of Fairmont, MN., and Donna (Randy) Mork of St. Cloud, MN., and by 3 sons, Dave (Carol) Mueller of Owatonna, MN., Tom (Laura) Mueller of Bloomington, MN., and Mike Mueller of Bloomington, MN.  Paul is  survived by 6 grandchildren: Kyle Hilburn of Santa Rosa, CA, Sara Mueller (and partner Joel Silbaugh)of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew (and Jen) Mueller of Buffalo, MN, Melissa (and Abe) Lugo of Los Angeles, CA, John Mueller of Bloomington, MN and Daniel Mueller of Minneapolis, MN, as well as 1 great-granddaughter, Harper Grace.

  Paul was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Norman Mueller of Morgan, MN., and 1 sister, Modesta (James) Pemberton of Blue River, OR.

  Memorials may be given to Pathstone Ecumen, 718 Mound Avenue, Mankato, MN. 56001; to Elder Care, 1110 Park Road,  Madison Lake, MN. 56063; or to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1103 North Broad Street, Mankato, MN 56001.
