Mary Eileen McRaith, age 80 of Faribault, died on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 10th at 7:00 p.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault with Fr. Erik Lundgren, Celebrant, and the Most Reverent John McRaith, Concelebrant. Interment will be in the St. Philip's Catholic Church Cemetery in Litchfield, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at Divine Mercy Catholic Church.
Arrangements are being completed by Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. The family prefers memorials in Mary's memory be directed to; Insulindependence (www.insulindependence.org), or Bethlehem Academy High School (www.bacards.org).
Mary Eileen was born on November 20, 1931 in Litchfield, Minnesota to Patrick and Bernadine (O'Fallon) McCormick. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1949. Mary completed a program through the University of Minnesota for dental hygiene assistant, and began working for Dr. Fred Maass in Litchfield. She was united in marriage to James Arthur McRaith on October 27, 1951 at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Litchfield, Minnesota. Jim's career with J.C. Penny Company began in Hutchinson and took them to Watertown, SD, Duluth, Madison, WI, and in 1961 to Faribault. They spent nearly 35 years in Faribault before moving to Janesville in 1995. Following Jim's death in 2000, Mary continued to reside in Janesville until moving back to Faribault in March of 2011. During her years in Faribault she had been an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, a devoted and longtime member of the Keller Club in Faribault, and faithful volunteer in the Faribault Community. She was also a longtime member of the Faribault Golf & Country Club and was proud of her participation in Bean Jar Tournaments. Mary enjoyed her years in Janesville and the many new friends she made. During her time in Janesville she was a member of Saint Ann Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her sons, Timothy (Roi Anne) McRaith of Savage, Daniel (Susan) McRaith of Waseca; by her daughter, Beth (Gary) Lehman of Chanhassen; by her four grandchildren, Patrick (Susan) Lehman, Katelin McRaith of Lake Forest, IL, Hannah McRaith of Duluth, and Barry McRaith of Waseca; by her brother-in-law, Bishop John McRaith of Owensboro, KY, and sisters-in-law, Jane Moening of Temecula, CA, Margaret Mary (Eugene) Madden of St. Louis Park, Phyllis McCormick and Lottie McCormick, both of Litchfield; by her daughter-in-law, Jill Griffith-McRaith of Little Falls; by many nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Jim on July 4, 2000, and her son Barry on September 15, 1988; by her two brothers Pat and Phil McCormick; her sister-in-law Betty McCormick and brother-in-law Charles Moening, and niece Shannon Ekeren-Moening.
