Dorothy B. Luhring, age 91, of Mapleton, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the United Church of Mapleton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato Hospice. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born October 24, 1920 in Pleasant Prairie Township, Martin County, MN to William and Rose (Alvey) Cook. She attended school in Winnebago and graduated from high school in Blue Earth. Dorothy married Oliver Luhring in Amboy, MN on January 7, 1942. Before being married, Dorothy worked as a housekeeper. She was a homemaker and worked on the farm for most of her life. Dorothy loved birds, and gardening and spending time outside. Her life revolved around her children and family.
Dorothy is survived by 5 children, Beverly (Owen) Lloyd of Delavan, MN, William Luhring of Good Thunder, Jo Ann (Paul) Andreszcuk of rural Mapleton, Oliver (Donna) Luhring of Hutchinson, Linda (David) Karels of Good Thunder; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver in 1995; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and daughter-in-law, Sharon in 2001.
Dorothys family would like to thank the Mapleton Community Home and Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato Hospice for their care and compassion.
