Doug E. Austad

—   Doug E. Austad, age 77, of Mankato, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the New Creation World Outreach Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour before services at the church. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Memorials are preferred to the Diabetes Foundation or Hospice.

  Doug was born January 30, 1936 to Earl A. and Loretta (Wilaby) Austad in Mankato. He was a 1954 graduate of Mankato, High School. Doug married Clara Louise Freemire April 1959. Clara died March 1991 and he later married Raenita Allen, November 1992. He worked at Mankato Bread, Madsen's, Cub Food and More Four until his retirement. Doug attended St. Peter and Pauls Catholic Church and Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing but especially time spent with family and friends.

  He is survived by his wife Raenita Austad; daughter's, Rachel (Tim) Dahm of Mankato and Karen O'Farrell also of Mankato; son's, Tim (Ann) Austad of Madison Lake, Tom (Dawn) Austad of Chaska, Doug (Tammy) Austad of North Mankato, Dave (Sue) Allen of Savage and Michael Allen of Mankato; 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers Dale (Marlene) Austad of Burnsville and Dennis (Linda) Austad of Idaho Falls, ID; many nieces and nephews. Doug is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Clara; 2 sisters, Julie and Joyce.
