Shirley M. Rossel

—   Shirley M. Rossel, 83, of Hope, MN died August 15, 2012 at Sunrise Senior living in Rochester where she was a resident for a short time.

  Memorial service is set for Thursday, August 30, 2012 at First Lutheran Church of Hope with Rev. Sandy Miller officiating.  Interment will take place at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato at a later date.

  Friends may greet the family one hour before the time of services at the church. Arrangements are being completed with the Brick - Meger Funeral Home of Owatonna.

  Shirley was born April 25, 1929 in Mankato, the daughter of Alois and Angeline (Collins) Honetschlager. Shirley attended school in Mankato. She married Duane Anderson of Mankato in 1946 and they had one child, Thomas O. Anderson.  Duane preceded her in death in 1975.  Shirley worked for Midwest Electric in Mankato and was also a homemaker.

  Shirley was united in marriage to James G. Rossel in 1986 on his farm in Rural Hope, MN and this is where the couple made their home.  Shirley continued to be a homemaker and together, worked with Jim to build their dream home on the farm. Her life interests included flower gardening, embroidery, painting, ceramic crafts, baking and cooking for her family.

  Shirley is survived by her husband Jim, daughter-in-law Joslin Anderson of Mankato and grandchildren Todd (Alicia Sellie) Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, and Jennifer Anderson, all of Minneapolis.  Step-Children Michael (Jodi) Rossel of Culpepper, VA.  Jeannie (Dale) Kavitz of Medford, MN Shari (John) Thibodeau of Owatonna, MN and James D. Rossel of Faribault, MN.  12 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren.  Her siblings LeRoy Honetschlager of AZ, Mark Honetschlager and Eva Joann Stai both of Mankato, MN and Ruby Gessner of Nicolet, MN.

  She is preceded in death by her son Thomas Anderson in 2004, and two brothers.  Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Alzheimer's Association 7900 W. 78th St. Suite 100 - Minneapolis, MN  55439
