Jeni Lee Johnson

—   Jeni Lee Johnson, age 35, of Vernon Center died on Monday, September 24, 2012 in Mankato as a result of a motorcycle accident.

  A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 29th from 2pm until 6pm at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.

  Jeni had a lifelong love of animals. From rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, and rats that she had as a child to the injured animals she cared for as a vet tech at the U of M.

  She then moved on to become a surgical tech helping people recover. For the last nine years she dedicated herself to patients who needed blood draws at ISJ Mankato. Even as a small child, Jeni showed quite a talent for drawing from chalk rock to charcoals; it was her way of bringing more animals into the house. It was well known in her circle of friends that if you had a stray animal, especially cats, give it to Jeni.

  Jeni had a musical talent that she thrived on. From playing bass guitar to singing (even karaoke with her mom and sister Wendi). She also got into making quilts and sewing them by hand. She took on knitting and was making a lot of stocking caps and scarves which were truly beautiful. Whatever Jeni did she did with dedication.

  Jeni had a deep and abiding love for Jeremy and she was the love of his life. They shared their love of motorcycles, gardening and one another. Jeni's favorite quote was from Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh: "Promise me you'll always remember, you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think..." This quote she had tattooed on her lower leg. She liked tattoos.

  Jeni was a unique person, her loving smile, her flashing eyes when she was up to something, and her gentle touch to those who needed it. Jeni was loved very much by her husband Jeremy and her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

  Jeni is survived by her husband; Jeremy Johnson of Vernon Center, her parents; Robert & Nancy Larson of St. James, her sister; Wendi (Gary) Anderson of St. James, nephews; Nick & Noah Anderson of St. James, her in-laws; James & Marylou Johnson of Duluth.

  She is preceded in death by her brother; baby Paul and her grandparents.
