John M. Halverson

—   John M. Halverson, age 86, of Nisswa, MN, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society of Brainerd.  Visitation will be Friday March 8, 2013, at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 5064 County Road 13, Nisswa.  Funeral services will be Saturday March 9, 2013, at 11 AM at the church.  Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery of Little Falls.  Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.

  John was born on July 5, 1926, in Hallock, MN, to Adolph and Ellen (Mortenson) Halverson.  John served in the Merchant Marine and the US Army during World War II.  He was employed at Land O Lakes as a district manager for over 34 years, and he and his family lived in various Minnesota communities.  In his retirement, he worked for Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel in Monticello for several years.  John and his wife, Yvonne have made their home in Nisswa since 2000.

  John is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Yvonne;  children Lynne Halverson of Ely, Joan (Dick) Rosenberg of Henning, Jim (Linda) Halverson of Lake Shore;  granddaughter Emily Tissier and her fianc Bertrand Charry of Northfield;  sister Marilyn Wilson of Fort Collins, CO;  and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Ellen;  four brothers Merle, Dale, Bob, Harvey;  and grandson Gabriel.
