Daniel Chirpich

WELLS — Daniel Chirpich, 95, of Wells, MN, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 6 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday.  Father Mark McNea and Father Eugene Stenzel will co-officiate and burial will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.  

Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family with arrangements.

Daniel Chirpich was born April 8, 1915, in Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County, the son of Joseph C. and Julia (Yokiel) Chirpich.  He grew up in the Wells area.  On October 18, 1938, he married his love Angela Yokiel at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN.  Up until 2 weeks ago, they lived their entire married life on their farm northeast of Wells.

Daniel was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and belonged to the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.  He served as director of the Wells Farmer’s Elevator Board for 21 years.  Daniel had a great love of the land—he enjoyed being on the farm, gardening, family and friends.  He was a loving husband of almost 72 years, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.

Daniel is survived by his wife Angela of Wells; 6 children:  Marlene (Morris) Hansen of Markesan, WI, Jan (Larry) Crawford of Wells, MN, Marjorie (Loren) Hanisch of Mendota, IL, Terry (Gary) Murray of Rochester, MN, Susan (Steve) Nowaczewski of Mendota Heights, MN, Gene (Pat) Chirpich of Wells, MN; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; a sister-in-law:  Anne Chirpich of Mankato, MN and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother:  Casimir; 4 sisters:  Helen (Leon) Wanzek, Sister Pius, Leona, Margaret (Robert) Sonnek and 2 granddaughters:  Jennifer and Jodi.
