Barbara Ann Jean Smith

—   Barbara Ann Jean Smith, 65, Mankato, died Monday September 24, 2012 at REM Heartland.  A private service will be held.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Barbara Smith Mankato MRCI Memorial Fund.

  Barbara was born July 24, 1947 to Charles and Phyllis (Porter) Smith in Minneapolis.  She worked at MRCI for 35 years.  Barb's favorite songs were "Happy Birthday to You" and "You Are My Sunshine".  She loved music and dancing, especially Donnie Osmond and the Sound of Music.  Barb was a fan of the Vikings and the Packers.  She had an endearing sense of humor and loved giving big smiles and kisses too.  She was very blessed to have many loving and caring people in her life.

  She is survived by brothers, George (Melanie) Smith of New Ulm and Greg (Claudia) Smith of Franklin; sisters, Bonnie Reese of Eagle Lake and Wendy (Steve) Kvale of Bemidji; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Barbara is preceded in death by her parents.
