Robert Ormsby Barnett

—    Robert Ormsby Barnett, age 89, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at his Lake Francis home.

  Visitation will be from 10:00 until Noon, Saturday, December 22nd at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, followed by a memorial service at Noon, with fellowship and lunch from 12:30 until 3:00. During this busy holiday season please feel free to join us at any time.  Memorials to Mayo Health System Foundation, Andreas Cancer Center or Christ the King Lutheran Church.

  Bob was born, March 8, 1923, in Mankato, the son of M. Luther Barnett and Inga (Olson) Barnett. Bob was raised, baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. He attended Franklin Elementary and graduated from Mankato High School. He was joined in marriage on December 23, 1945 to Lois Arlene Campbell.  Bob and Lois were active in the community while raising their four children. Bob was involved in Jaycees, Kiwanis, Boy Scouts, Exchange Club and was an active charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church including a time as President of the church council.  From the 1940s to the 1980s, Bob was an active professional photographer.  During his career he was in various business partnerships with Bob Schutte, Lee Nordgren and his wife Lois. Bob earned his Master's in Photography.  His photos earned many awards at the Professional Photographers of America conventions.  He remained active in the family photo business until 2008.

  He loved his gardens, spending time outdoors, fishing, skiing and tennis.  Later in life, Bob and Lois enjoyed their Lake Francis home and winters in Mesa, Arizona.

  Bob is survived by sons; Garry (Mary) of North Mankato, Brian (Karen) of Lake Francis, Martin (Joyce) of Mankato and daughter, Elizabeth (Kent) of Elko, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Nadine (Roscoe) and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois, his parents, brother, Ed and sister, Lacy.
