Torres G. Severtson, age 93, of Mapleton, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Mapleton Community Home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan, MN, with Rev. Todd Substad officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9 from 4-7 p.m. at Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at East Lutheran Cemetery in Delavan.
Torres was born on January 20, 1919, in Mapleton to Joseph and Elsie (Roe) Severtson. He was born and raised in Mapleton and farmed his entire life in the Mapleton area. Torres served in the United States Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Helen Holcomb on May 23, 1953. Torres was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan.
Torres is survived by his daughter, JoAnn (Tom) Nickles of Maplewood, MN; son, Duane (Diane) Severtson of North Mankato, MN; grandchildren: Amanda (Robbie) Hoechst of Lake Crystal, MN, Sarah Paulson of Eagan, MN, and Amber Severtson of St. Louis Park, MN; great-grandchildren: Brodie, Alaina, Ben, Aaron, Megan, and Douglas; sister, Janet Dokken of Everett, WA; sisters-in-law, Doris Klein of Elmore, MN and Virginia Holcomb of Fairmont, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, and sister, Elaine.
