Donna Danberry, age 83, of Mankato, died suddenly at her home in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 12th at 10:30 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Fr. Robert Schneider, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at church.
Donna was born October 29, 1929, in Rockford, Illinois, to Leo and Antonia (Iverson) DeMars. In 1933 her family moved to Elk River, Minnesota, and then to St. Clair in 1945. Donna attended St. Clair High School, graduating with the class of 1947. On August 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to John F. "Jack" Danberry at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair. Donna and Jack raised their family and farmed on the Danberry Farm in McPherson Township, Blue Earth County. Donna returned to school later in life, completing her associate degree from South Central Technical College in Mankato. She worked as a ward clerk in the psychiatric wing at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, retiring after more than 20 years of service. Following her husband's death in 1999, Donna continued to reside on the farm until moving into Mankato in 2001. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair, the Mankato Moose Lodge #1414, and St. Clair American Legion Auxiliary #475. She loved playing cards, especially Bridge, and trips to the casino! Donna and Jack enjoyed their many winters in Pharr, Texas.
She is survived by her children, John "Jack" (Marie) Danberry of Janesville, Nanci (Mike) Lund of rural St. Clair, Jobi (Peter) Preston of rural St. Clair, and Jane (Todd) Warnke of Mankato; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Fitzloff of Mankato, Rose (Jim) Loeffler of Eagle Lake, Jacelyn Haley of Waseca, Jan Ellis of Waseca, Kathleen (Tom) Wright of Reston, VA, and Pat (Tony) Staloch of Janesville; brother-in-law, Bob Kulseth of Mankato; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack on 11/13/1999; son, Michael on 11/15/1993; sisters, Joyce (Bud) Hill, and Darlene Kulseth; brother, LaVern DeMars; brothers-in-law, Jim Fitzloff, Mark Haley, Lowell Ellis, and Lyle Halberg.
