L. Robert "Bob" Scribner

—  L. Robert "Bob" Scribner, age 93, of Mankato, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Monarch Meadows Assisted Living in North Mankato. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour before services in the chapel. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park.

  Bob was born October 8, 1919, in Morris, MN, the son of Eugene and Goldie (Torrey) Scribner.  On July 9, 1944, he married Marion Margaret Koons in Morris.  He served in the US Army from 1945-1946 as an expert marksman, cook and musician.  He worked as a general repairman at Mankato State University.  Bob was a lifetime musician.  As a child he played on national broadcasts with the 4H Band.  While in the Army he started a Battalion Orchestra.  In retirement he was the oldest member of the Pickers & Grinners group.  He was a member of Good Sam's Club, Mankato; Church of God Camp Caretaker and Mankato University Retirees.

 He is survived by son, Ronald (Gwen) Scribner of Ormand Beach, FL; daughters, Marlys (Carl) Carlson of Eagan, MN, and Marjorie (David) Bentdahl of Waterville, MN; grandchildren Jon Scribner, Lisa Scribner, Tae Borne, Jacob Scribner, Todd Carlson, Naomi Keeling, James Carlson, David Carlson, Melissa Brunk and Mary Bentdahl; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; 3 brothers; one sister.
