David Doktor was born in Le Sueur, Minnesota to Joseph and Thelma (Petzel) Doktor on September 9, 1930. He graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1948 and shortly after was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. He was stationed in Atlantic City, NJ. He spent part of his tour overseas during the Korean War.

David was married to Delores Harvet of Minneapolis on November 30, 1957; they were married for 55 years.

Early years David worked for his father Joe's trucking company transporting cans for the Green Giant Company. In 1963 David purchased the Quality Appliance store from Roland Christianson. David supplied the Le Sueur residents with all sorts of appliances from 1963 until 1985 when he sold the store to Randy Pautz. After retiring from the appliance business David purchased a corn and pea hauling truck and spent several years bringing in fresh vegetables during the pack season working for Green Giant. During this time he made friendships of Dwaine Felmlee, Bill Harder and Roger Harder who helped David keep his truck rolling around the clock during pack season. Through the years David enjoyed spending time with his family, having coffee with friends, watching sports, driving his truck, riding motorcycle, playing cards, bowling and going to Arizona in the winters. There was nothing he loved more than having his grandchildren visit.

David is survived by his wife Delores, five children, Mary Jo (Dan) Klingbeil of Bricelyn, Jeanne (Kerry) Renneke of LeSueur, Judy (John) Wise of Prior Lake, Jane (Troy) Grieves of Prior Lake, Jill (Rod) Reinhardt of LeSueur, 13 grandchildren and two great-granchildren.
